CODY MCCARVER AND AMANDA HENKEL TO KICK OFF “THE MIRAGE PRESENTS RODEO VEGAS” AT THE MIRAGE HOTEL AND CASINO DECEMBER 4-13
NASHVILLE, TN—November 23, 2008—Cody McCarver, country music solo artist, rebel personality, and
member of Confederate Railroad and Amanda Henkel, country music newcomer and Hawaiian Tropic
international supermodel are scheduled to kick off “The Mirage Presents Rodeo Vegas” entertainment
spectacular at The Mirage Hotel and Casino, December 4-13. The Mirage will broadcast a live feed of the
NFR (National Finals Rodeo) nightly events in the “Race and Sports Book” area, followed by live
entertainment from McCarver, Henkel, Derryl Perry, Jason Meadows, Gary Leffew’s Mechanical Bull,
Susie Dobbs, Katie Armiger, and members of George Strait’s Ace In The Hole Band. The event is
sponsored by Wrangler, Coors, Coca-Cola, Cactus Saddlery, Jack Daniels, AT&T, and Purina Mills.
There is no cover charge. All events are presented courtesy of The Mirage Hotel and Casino. This year’s
rodeo competition marks the 50th anniversary of the Wrangler NFR.

event gets bigger and better each year as we host special rodeo-tied attractions and amenities targeting
the champion rodeo contestants and their supporters. We’ll have many of the favorite contestants on
property here at The Mirage.”
Henkel’s self-titled, five-song EP (PLC/Desire Street) is a showcase of vibrant and compelling
songs, particularly the upcoming single, “A Million And One.” The song is a fresh-voiced look at the
breaking point in a romance, and a performance that puts Amanda’s viability as an artist and her ability to compete squarely in the forefront. Henkel, grew up on country music in Slidell, Louisiana dreaming of a singing career. As a youngster, she sang on the Louisiana fair circuit, formed a country band with her
sister Pamela, and made it on the popular Louisiana Music Cavalcade. She was the sibling—a tomboy
who played soccer, rode dirt bikes, and served as deck hand on her dad’s shrimp boat--no one expected
to go into show business. Her music career took a detour with her rise as an international supermodel,
and ultimately as the face and international spokesperson for Hawaiian Tropic around the world. Her new
single is scheduled for release in early 2009.
McCarver’s current solo single, “Look What You’ve Done” was released November 10. In a
market that has become increasingly competitive for smaller and truly independent labels, McCarver
turned heads when he recently spent three weeks at No. 18 on Music Row’s chart with his remake of the
Rod Stewart-penned pop mega-hit “Tonight’s The Night.” The song showcased McCarver’s country edge
and his ability to make a cover tune his own. A partner in PLC (Peace, Love and Coon Dogs) Records,
McCarver’s position, according to Music Row, marked the highest of any small label artist since Pirates Of
The Mississippi’s No.18 with “Fishbait.” His previous solo singles include “Red Flag” and “Through God’s
Eyes,” both of which reached the Top 25 on Music Row. These two singles garnered him two awards,
Music Row’s Independent Artist award and Music Row’s Independent Breakout Artist Of The Year award.
The “Red Flag” video reached No. 1 on CMT Pure’s “Pure 12-Pack” countdown.
